Course summary

Further Maths pure content includes: algebra and functions; coordinate geometry in the (x, y) plane; further algebra (factor theorem, binomial expansions); trigonometry; vectors (2D); differentiation; integration; exponentials and logarithms. The AS Mathematics and Applied Content, Statistics and Mechanics, include: statistical sampling; data representation and interpretation; probability; statistical distribution; statistical hypothesis testing; quantities and units in mechanics; kinematics 1(constant acceleration); forces and newton’s laws; kinematics 2(variable acceleration). In year 2, students will study the remaining A Level Mathematics pure content including proof; algebraic and partial fractions; functions and modelling; series and sequences; the binomial theorem; trigonometry; parametric equations; differentiation; numerical methods; integration (part 1); integration (part 2); vectors(3D). The remaining A Level Mathematics Applied Content includes, regression and correlation; probability; the normal distribution; moments; forces at an angle; applications of kinematics; applications of forces; and further kinematics.
