Course summary

A Level Chemistry covers a wide range of concepts and gives you an insight into the contemporary world of chemistry. It covers the key fundamentals of chemistry and practical skills are integrated throughout the course. You will learn about chemistry in a range of different contexts and how it contributes to the success of the economy and society. A Level Chemistry will allow you to develop a range of transferable skills including investigating, problem-solving, research, decision-making, mathematical skills, and analytical skills. The course opens a range of possibilities for further study and careers associated with the subject. The course builds on skills and knowledge gained at GCSE and covers a range of topics which give students a greater insight into principles and concepts underlying the chemical world. Specifically, we cover aspects of Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry including the structure of the atom, trends and patterns in the Periodic Table and typical reactions of organic families.
