If you have an interest in the field of sport, coaching or fitness, then this course is perfect for you. You will complete both practical and theoretical work in a range of environments, learning about the principles of anatomy and physiology in sport and fitness units. You can study this course for two years to achieve the full Diploma. Units include: Business in sports Fitness training Practical sports performance Coaching What can I do next? On completion of the course, students can also progress onto a range of academic programs of study including a foundation degree at Middlesbrough College or a degree course at a selection of other universities after their second year. Alternatively, you can progress onto an apprenticeship, providing you secure employment. Internal progression options are Active IQ Level 2 or 3 Personal Training and foundation degrees in personal training or fitness with sports therapies The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 vocational qualification and /or four GCSEs at grade 4/5 (C) including English or maths.
This course is assessed through 3 external exams and internal assessments. You will be assessed internally through a variety of methods, consisting of written assignments, power point presentations, poster presentations, practical tasks, demonstrations, discussions, group work and voluntary work. Each assessment will be graded pass, merit distinction with a points value 7, 8, 9. Some units will be assessed externally through short answer exams and case study exams.
