Course summary
The study of History will appeal to those who wish to discover how and why the world evolved to be as it is today. History is regarded as a keystone academic subject by competitive universities, and offers an established route into the professions. During the course, you will study tumultuous periods of early modern and modern history. During Year 1 you will explore the origins and consequences of the brutal civil wars that ravaged and transformed both Britain and America. In Year 2 you will study the development of the American civil rights movement, charting the heroic fight of civil rights activists, striving to gain equality for all Americans, regardless of race, gender or ethnicity. You will also complete a coursework assignment from a selection of titles.
