A Level Film Studies is an academic A Level which will have you thinking critically and experiencing the world from a different perspective. In this course you will analyse a wide range of both classic and contemporary films from across the genres, considering their social and political impact. You’ll also hone your technical and creative skills, from writing for the screen to editing film content. You’ll need no prior experience of this subject but a passion for cinema is a must! This is a well-respected A Level which will see you investigating a range of acclaimed films, building your critical thinking and understanding of how the techniques used can influence the audience. As part of this, you’ll explore a diverse range of texts and films including contemporary movies such as The Dark Knight Rises and Skyfall, to classics such as Raging Bull.
Entry Criteria: • 4 GCSEs at grade 5. • 2 GCSEs at grade 4 including GCSE English Language and GCSE Maths.
A Levels are traditional academic qualifications assessed largely by exams at the end of the two-year period.
