This Level 2 qualification enables the development of transferable business and personal skills alongside core accountancy skills, including double-entry book-keeping. You will gain a grasp of various routine accounting and commercial processes and learn basic costing principles, working with sales, purchase, and general ledgers. Learning will be a mix of classroom teaching, individual and group activities, tutorials, and self-study. The course is divided into four units which will enable you to achieve the defined professional standards. 1) Introduction to Bookkeeping 2) Principles of Bookkeeping Controls 3) Principles of Costing 4) The Business Environment
Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills, which can be supported by GCSE grades C / 4 or above in English and Maths, or a bookkeeping qualification. There will also be a screening of literacy and numeracy levels if you do not hold the above.
There will be four computer-based assessments (exams), all to be done within the college. In addition to these formal assessments, there will be practice activities and mock tests throughout the course.
