Course summary

Every year between 1.5 and 2.5 million families access support services for children and young people. Over 500,000 people have the responsibility of delivering these services, ranging from early years education, social work, and fostering services. You have the opportunity to make a huge difference in children’s lives, helping them to learn basic skills such as tying shoelaces or learning to count. It’s a challenging, but very rewarding industry to work in, that offers vast progression opportunities. During the Childcare Intermediate course, you will become familiar with the practices of childcare, from child development to learning through play. You will develop your personal study skills, learning how to work both in teams and independently on a variety of projects. You will become able to take responsibility for your learning and development, preparing you for studying at Level 3 or an apprenticeship. From engagingly presenting information to administrative tasks and processes, your study skills will come on leaps and bounds, enabling you to tackle Level 3 coursework head-on.
