Applied Science is a two-year course covering aspects of all three core sciences: biology, chemistry and physics. The course places emphasis on coursework and practical activities and will help you develop the skills needed for working in the science industry. This Applied Science course is widely accepted by major universities and is ideal for students wishing to work in fields such as forensics, cosmetics and healthcare. Based in our purpose-built laboratories, you will learn many skills and techniques such as colourimetry, titrations, energy content analysis, DNA replication and gene insertion as well as many transferrable skills like independence, time management and self-confidence. You will be covering the key concepts of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. These include human body tissue, the nervous system, cell specialisation, reactivity of elements, electron configurations, satellite communication and wireless technology.
Students should have grades 9-4 in five GCSE programmes, including a grade 4-4 in GCSE Combined Science, and either GCSE English or GCSE Mathematics.
