Course summary

During our Economics A-Level, you will study the ‘science of wealth’. You will expand your knowledge and understanding of the origins and meaning of economics and then debate the consumption of goods and services and the benefits they provide in society. During this two-year course, you will study key concepts, such as supply and demand, competition, and monopoly. You will learn how markets work and the variables that determine the success or failure of a market. You will understand the concept of inflation, the balance of payment, and the deficit of management. You will improve your knowledge and awareness of politics, government policy, current affairs, and the environment. Then, towards the end of the course, you'll discover why the price of petrol keeps rising, why education is free in the UK, and whether all nations benefit from free trade and globalisation. Lessons are lively and feature regular debates.
