The course engages students by presenting chemical ideas and practical skills in a variety of contexts, relating to modern-day applications of chemistry in the world. During the course of this A Level you will study the following modules: Elements of Life; Developing Fuels; The Ozone Story; Elements from the Sea; What’s in a Medicine?; The Chemical Industry; Polymers and Life; Oceans; Developing Metals; and Colour by Design. Potential careers involve those in healthcare such as medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry but the course is also extremely useful in careers in the biological sciences, physics, mathematics, pharmacology and analytical chemistry. Chemistry is also taken by many law applications as it shows you can cope with difficult concepts.
- Grade 5 or above in GCSE Science or Chemistry and Grade 5 in Mathematics. - General entry requirement: 5 GCSEs grade 4+ including Maths and English
