This course is suitable for learners who have completed the level 1 Carpentry course or have specific Carpentry experience. You should have an interest in Carpentry and want to explore potential careers in the trade. Your course will be a mix of classroom-based theory sessions and workshop sessions that explore practical skills. Topics include carrying out first-fix flooring and roofing, first-fix frames, partitions and stairs, second-fix operations, carpentry maintenance and setting up and operating a circular saw. You will hone relevant workplace skills such as building rapport with others and problem-solving. You will also complete maths and English qualifications to grade 4 if you haven’t got them already as they are essential in this industry.
Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including maths and English, trade specific experience or a trade relevant level 1 qualification with maths and English at grade 3 or above (or Functional Skills level 1 or above).
