Course summary
BTEC level 3 Performing Arts (Acting) is a suitable course for anyone who has a passion or interest within the performing arts field. The BTEC Performing Arts course gives students a good foundation through learning about different theatrical practitioners with a ‘hands-on’ direction in a variety of performances. This gives the students confidence in performance and ensures they become familiar with different theatrical genres and their associated demands. BTEC is a vocational course where students will study 4 units: • Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance and Acting Styles are both internally assessed • Investigating Practitioners work and Group Performance Workshop are both externally assessed The course strives to give students a taste of what a career in the world of performing might entail and the various demands of such a career. Exploring drama techniques and performers discipline are two of the main factors studied during the course. There are also opportunities to develop skills in the technical side of theatre performance; students will gain knowledge in controlling stage lighting and sound equipment.
