Work experience is a crucial part of the course. We will help you find a placement that allows you to put the skills in learn in college into practice and gives you a real taste of your future. Youll be taught by our specialist lecturers who have years of experience working in the industry; theyll be able to give you a valuable insight into the challenges and rewards of working in health and social care. The course is run over two years. In the first year youll complete the Level 3 Foundation Diploma and subsequently the Level 3 Extended Diploma, which will give you the UCAS points necessary to progress into higher education. Alternatively, youll have the experience and knowledge to start looking for a role in the industry.
4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, or a Merit in a relevant Level 2 subject and English and maths. All applicants will be screened for fitness to practice, and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be made. You will be interviewed by a member of the lecturing team. Please note that if you would like to progress onto teaching or nursing at university you will need five GCSEs at grade 4, including English, maths and science.
The course involves a variety of assessment methods, including internally marked essays and portfolios from your work placement, as well as externally assessed exams. The internally set assessments will be varied in format and in some instances you may be asked to contribute to the design of an assessment.
