Course summary

The extended certificate comprises 3 mandatory units. These are; Principles of Computer Science, Fundamentals of Computer Systems and IT Systems, Security and Encryption. The optional unit of study is Computer Games Development. Coursework forms 40% of your final grade. The Principles of Computer Science unit covers the principles that underpin all areas of computer science. It will support the development of computational thinking skills and your ability to apply these skills to solve problems across much wider contexts. The Fundamentals of Computer Systems looks at hardware and software, how components work together, and data. IT System Security considers security threats and methods to protect IT systems, including data encryption. Computer Games Development provides an option to investigate the computer games industry. You will be required to design and develop a computer game to meet the given specifications. IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?
