During this exciting barbering course, you will learn traditional skills, such as scissors over comb and shaving, as well as develop new specialist techniques, such as 2D and 3D sculpting. This course opens up the gateway into qualifying as a barber. You will learn to carry out services such as cutting hair and facial hair, creative hairdressing and styling. You will cover the principles of good salon hygiene, how to work safely in a salon environment and perform a professional consultation on clients. You will also learn how to run and maintain the salon reception desk. In addition ,you will be granted 'creative licence' when working on the unit 'Create an Image Based on a Theme'. Last years theme was 'Peaky Blinders'.
Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English and/or maths at grade 3.
You will build up a portfolio of evidence to showcase your skills and knowledge. Practical skills will be assessed by observation whilst working on 'live' models. Knowledge of each unit of work will be assessed in a variety of methods such as assignments, professional discussions and external written papers (multiple choice).
