Do you want to travel? Discover another culture? Understand how the world works? Learning another language is an exciting way to do all of these! A-Level French builds on the skills and knowledge of the GCSE to allow you to communicate and understand French at a deeper level, whilst immersing yourself in some of the defining issues of the 21st century in the French-speaking world. During lessons, using up-to-date resources and technology, you will explore thought-provoking social issues such as crime and politics through to cinema and music. These topics will allow you to develop into a confident linguist who is able to manipulate the language to creatively express themselves whilst being fully able to understand others. Additionally, you will explore the French culture through the study of defining works of literature and film and complete an independent research project on a topic of your own choice. Whilst understandably allowing further study at university, an A Level in French also demonstrates to future employers a range of transferrable skills such as communication, problem solving and intercultural understanding. Moreover, it opens the doors to opportunities in an array of sectors including journalism, law, engineering, and hospitality.
