This course is designed to equip students with construction and the built environment skills, knowledge, and the understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the global construction and the built environment sector. This qualification is equivalent in size to two A levels and will give students experience of the breadth and depth of the sector to prepare them for further study or training. Learners will demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the basic concepts of Construction. They will be able to communicate accurately and appropriately, and they will have the qualities needed for employment that requires some degree of personal responsibility. In addition, they will have developed a range of transferable skills to ensure effective team working, independent initiatives, organisational competence, and problem-solving strategies. Please note: The full cost for this 2 year programme is 6,000 and payment of the fees will be split between Year 2 and Year 2.
This course is aimed at learners aged 18 or 19+. Each applicant will be contacted for an interview. You will need subject-specific GCSEs as requested (5 A*-C grades, including Maths and English) or alternatively, a history of working in the industry for several years.
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector. There are three main forms of assessment that you need to be aware of: external, internal and synoptic. Some of the units are externally assessed by the awarding body but most of the course is assessed through a series of internally set assignments involving a combination of scenario-based tasks linked to project work, practical exercises, timed tasks, individual study, and presentations.
