To provide the logical progression from GCSE Art & Design for potential artists/designers, and also for students aiming to attend art college, university courses and careers in the field of Art & Design. What hasn't been designed or had some kind of creative input? Art & Design has helped to create everything from the shoes we wear to the cars we drive, the newspapers we read to the town in which we live. When we consider our environment we realise the fundamental impact art & design has on our everyday lives. This course provides students with the opportunity to produce an excellent portfolio of work which they will need for college or university entry. We have an exemplary record of students gaining places at The University College for Creative Arts in order to progress into careers in this field. There are an extremely wide range of careers in art & design including graphic design, animation, photography, film, computer graphics, model making, set design, architecture, interior design, product design, fashion design, engineering, textiles, illustration, landscape and garden design.
The normal entry requirements for advanced courses apply, including a grade 5 achieved at GCSE in Fine Art. Candidates without these qualifications would be considered through a portfolio entry which must be submitted prior to starting the course.
All work is assessed by the centre and moderated by the Examination Board Component 1 – Personal Investigation (60% of the total A level marks) Component 2 – Externally Set Assignment - 15hrs (40% of the total A level marks)
