Course summary

This course provides students with a good understanding of the various research methods and approaches used in Psychology to explain the human mind and behavior. The course is designed to develop critical thinking skills and prepare students for higher-level study. Students are encouraged to think about and question some of the fundamental issues in Psychology, such as why people are obedient even if they know the outcome will be harmful to others. As part of the course, students will need to enjoy the challenge of learning new ways of thinking about behavior and applying this knowledge to key areas in Psychology, including gender development, memory, and forensic psychology. Throughout the course, a range of teaching and learning methods are used including group work, independent study, and class discussions.

Entry requirements

Achieve at least five grade 5-9 (including Maths and English) Students are expected to have a Grade 6 in English Language or Literature and a Grade 6 in Biology.
