What will I study? Your main programme will include topics such as, -Developing effective communication in health and social care. -Equality and Diversity -Rights in Health and Social Care -Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care -Development through the life stages. You will also have the opportunity to study a range of optional units including: -Anatomy and Physiology -Personal and Professional Development -Sociological perspectives on health -Values and Planning in Social Care -Caring for children and young people -Public Health -Science for Health. You'll learn in a range of different ways to keep you interested and challenged such as practical activities, trips and visits, giving presentations, assignments, project work and hearing from guest speakers. You'll receive an individual learning plan with objectives that will challenge and stretch you to help you reach your full potential. You'll set your own targets too during tutorial sessions and have the chance to get involved in fundraising and entrepreneurial projects. Work Experience: The college has excellent links with many relevant and high quality work experience placements and as part of your study programme, you will have the opportunity to undertake work experience and gain real 'hands-on' experience in a relevant setting such as a care home, nursery, hospital or other specialist area and, will relate learning in the classroom to health and care settings. This valuable experience will further develop your skills and knowledge and aid your career choice. After you have completed the course you can step into work such as home care worker, senior care worker, social worker, health services manager, nursing, home care manager, paramedic, physiotherapist and midwifery.
5 GCSEs Grade A*-C (9-4) including English Language and Maths. Required experience: Experience of caring for others is not essential but would be beneficial.
