Film Studies involves studying all aspects of film, from the silent era to contemporary Hollywood. Although there is some practical production work (30%) - you actually make films - the emphasis of the subject is on studying film. A significant part of both the A Level course involves the close study of 8 different periods of film history alongside mainstream, independent and alternative cinema. This should mean that you'll be introduced to everything from Hollywood blockbusters to British, European and World cinema.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4. Experience shows that your chances of success are greater if you have a Grade 5 in both GCSE English Language and Literature.
2 Exams (70%) and one piece of coursework (30%).
