Course summary

The aim of the course is to engage with and explore the visual arts through the production of personal practical work. Outcomes are therefore not prescribed and you will have a great deal of autonomy in developing work that you find interesting and inspiring. The Art staff work closely with the A-level candidates in helping them develop their work successfully and in fulfilling the highest examination criteria. Students in Fine Art will be introduced to a variety of creative experiences that explore a range of fine art media processes and techniques. You will explore the use of drawing using a range of methods and media on a variety of scales including pencil, graphite, biro, ink and charcoal. You will go on to produce practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas of study, for example: drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, photography, installation and print making. To extend the art experience, you will go on a gallery visit to see work first-hand.
