An A Level in Spanish builds on the foundations of GCSE while deepening students’ understanding of issues affecting Spanishspeaking countries. Spanish A Level is therefore much more than its linguistic component. It is also an enhanced study of many social sciences, often through the medium of film and literary texts. The list of these is extensive and includes works by Gabriel García Márquez Crónica de una muerte anunciada, as well as films such as Ocho Apellidos Vascos and María, llena eres de gracia.
- Minimum of grade 6 at GCSE Spanish - Grade 5 in English and Maths PLUS at least 3 other GCSE grades 5 or above
Paper 1: Listening, reading and writing • Written exam: 2h 30 50% Paper 2: Writing • Written exam: 2h 20% • 1 text and 1 film or 2 texts Paper 3: Speaking • Individual research project • Oral exam 21-23 minutes 30%
