Course summary

You will learn about two set texts and also how to review a piece of Live theatre. In creating Original Drama, students learn how to create a devised piece of Drama that is influenced by the methodologies of a prescribed practitioner. Students also learn how to write a working notebook that analyses the development of the devised work. In making theatre, students learn about three more set texts and further theatre practitioners. Students learn how to rehearse and perform an extract of one of these plays and create a reflective report evaluating a theatrical interpretation of all three plays.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSE grades at 9-4 or BTEC Distinction* - Pass. We require a grade 6 at GCSE Drama (or equivalent) and a grade 5 in GCSE English.

How you'll be assessed

There are three components: Drama and Theatre (40%) Creating original Drama (30%) Making theatre (30%) Drama and Theatre which is examined in an open book written three-hour exam.
