Course summary
This course is for anyone move on from GCSE with an interest in business. Whether you're considering working for a global corporation, small firm or even running your own business in the future, this subject will give you a good grounding in business theory. You don't need to have studied GCSE business to do this course but you will need good numerical skills (at least level 2). Studying business can lead to careers in almost any employment sector and it combines well with most other A level subjects. You'll be introduced to core business concepts and develop a broad understanding of how businesses work, through 4 main themes: Marketing and people - from branding and promotion, recruitment and staffing to the characteristics of entrepreneurs. Managing business - the finance and operations functions and external influences on business. Business decisions and strategy - you'll look at different types and sizes of national and global organisations in various business sectors to analyse their corporate strategy. Global business - factors leading to increased business globalisation and ethical and moral dimensions of business. This course is both active and enjoyable. Students need to enjoy communicating and explaining their ideas and working towards solving business problems. Students learn about the world of business through research and investigation, as well as through practical tasks. A Level assessment: Data response questions and essays.
