Studying Health and Social Care here at QE will give you valuable insight into the many different aspects of health and social care; the skills, knowledge, and job roles that exist. The qualification is built upon the Care Certificate, an industry-standard in core skills and knowledge. Through a combination of exams and coursework, you will learn to become a safe, competent practitioner with an understanding of Safeguarding; Anatomy and Physiology; Health, Safety and Security, Equality & Diversity, Psychology and Nutrition. Our course is designed to allow you to follow any of the wide variety of careers health, social care, and early years provision offers. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience through a work placement and will meet several health and social care professionals during your time with us. This course is available as either one or two A-level equivalents. Topics include: • Building positive relationships • Equality, Diversity, and Rights • Anatomy and Physiology • Supporting people with Mental Health conditions • Safeguarding You will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a group in class-based learning activities. In addition, you will speak to practitioners and service users from a range of health, social care, and early years organizations. If you enjoy meeting new people and gaining information first hand you will find this course interesting. Work experience will be arranged during the course to enable you to complete coursework and to assist with career planning. You will develop and use skills of planning, research, report writing, self-reflection, and evaluation.
5 GCSE grades at 4 or above including Maths or English. It is strongly recommended for you to have a grade 4 in GCSE English & Science. You must also meet the College's general entry requirements for Advanced Level study.
Health and Social Care is a largely coursework-based qualification. You complete units of coursework that are based around vocational health and social care settings and cover a wide variety of topic areas. Some units are assessed by exams.
