Are you considering a profession in law? This course is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on insight into how the law operates in practice. Looking at both aspects of criminal and civil law, you will learn about various processes, including procedures at the police station, and how criminal trials and personal injury claims work. You will learn about the different types of courts and the cases that are dealt with in those courts, including both criminal and civil cases. We will look at the different sources of law and how laws are developed through the courts and parliament and how they are interpreted by the judiciary. You will also discover the powers that the police have in relation to arrest and detention, and the legal principles surrounding those areas of law.
Students should have grades 9-4 in five GCSE programmes, including either GCSE English or GCSE Mathematics.
