You cannot fail to notice that the political world in the UK and USA has seen great change and turmoil in the last year or so. These changes have touched and influenced our behaviors massively. In this course, you will learn about the key features of the modern British and American political systems. You will explore the technical aspects of the two political systems as well as focus on the reasons why people believe what they do, vote the way they do, and are influenced by groups and people. You will debate ideas and political philosophies and fully appreciate alternative viewpoints to your own. You will also develop your extended writing skills. A Level of Politics is suitable for those who have an interest in politics generally and in the way the world works around you.
5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English.
You will be assessed throughout the year through class-based essays and past papers. You will sit mock examinations in January and June of Year 12 and in January of Year 13. At the end of Year 13, you will sit the formal examinations.
