Art and Design (Textiles)

Course summary

This course is designed to consolidate the existing skills, knowledge and understanding gained by students at Key Stage 4 and to offer them the opportunity to make a personal response to new experiences of a practical and conceptual nature. Students will be given the opportunity to develop: • their intellectual, imaginative and creative powers • their investigative, analytical, experimental, practical, technical and expressive skills, their aesthetic understanding and critical judgement • their understanding of the relationships between textiles design and an awareness of its wider applications • their knowledge and understanding of textiles design in contemporary society and in other times and cultures • an awareness of different roles, functions and audiences and consumers of art and the textiles industry.
