Course summary

Mathematics is the passport to any degree or apprenticeship, as it is accepted by all university courses and employers. Many courses at university level build on knowledge and skills which you will gain while still at school. Subjects that are required more often than others are referred to as facilitating subjects. Mathematics is a facilitating subject. We study familiar topics in more depth, as well as considering a broad range of new concepts including mechanics, which supports physics, and statistical methods, which are required for many other post 18 subjects, including psychology, biology and economics. The life skills gained include problem solving and logical reasoning. If you are choosing A Level Physics, then it is strongly recommended that you also study A Level Mathematics. Entry requirements

- Grade 7 in Mathematics - For A Level subjects, students are expected to achieve an average grade score of 5.5 from their GCSE grades and a grade 4 in English (Literature or Language) and Mathematics.
