
As part of the course you will be given a broad insight into the many aspects of textiles and the fashion industry. Working in our state of the art studio you will be taught how to use a sewing machine to produce truly stunning garments and other related outcomes. You will produce an extensive range of samples and prototypes and will be encouraged to specialise in the area you are most interested in. Drawing is an important part of the course and you will also be encouraged to explore the work of textile artists, designers and craftsmen to influence and inspire you. In the first year the emphasis is on learning about new materials and techniques, laying the foundations for the extended project at the end of the first year.
Coursework that you produce will be worth 60% of your overall grade, and there is an end of course exam lasting 15 hours’ worth 40%.
