Learning to communicate ideas in a visual form is not only a great skill to aquire but is great fun also. Core themes can be developed through drawing, painting, sculpture and 3D design, photography and digital manipulation, montage, collage and pretty much any materials that are available. Students have great freedom in the themes that they study. This is very much about personal development as well as learning about materials and processes. Studying the work of artists, designers and architects will also enrich the creative experience and help students in terms of ideas and direction.
Grade 6 or above in GCSE Art
• The Exhibition, curated by the students and containing between 8 and 11 pieces. (Higher) or 5 and 8 pieces (Standard) (40%) • The Process Portfolio, a workbook or sketchbook, displaying skillsbased practical work and critical thinking. (40%) • The Comparative Study, of at least 3 artworks and linking to the student’s own practice. (20%)
