Course summary
Unit 3: Crime Scene to Courtroom - Evaluating the effectiveness of the role of personnel involved in criminal investigations e.g. forensic specialists, police officers and CPS. Assessment of the usefulness of investigative techniques and how evidence is processed in criminal investigations e.g. profiling, forensics, DNA and surveillance techniques. - Learning about the trial processes and the rules in relation to the use of evidence in criminal cases and how evidence is processed. Examination of the rights of individuals in criminal investigations. Unit 4: Crime and Punishment - Learning about the processes and models used for law making and understanding the organisation of the criminal justice system in England and Wales. - Examination of forms of social control and assessing how forms of punishment meet the aims of punishment. - Evaluating the effectiveness of the role of agencies in achieving social control.
