Course summary

Psychology is the scientific study of people, particularly how and why we think and behave as we do. Although it is a comparatively ‘new’ Science with much yet to be discovered, studying it will give you a much better understanding of yourself and other people and the skills learnt are transferrable. Psychology uses the scientific method of careful research, experimentation and statistical analysis and requires you to learn to be numerate, use logical reasoning and to express yourself clearly and concisely in writing. This subject allows you to progress onto Higher Education programs and could lead to a wide range of careers, including clinical work in hospitals, education, and health within private practices or organizations. During the course of this program, you will study: Core studies: classic and contemporary studies. Research methods: the process of planning, conducting, analyzing and reporting psychological research across a range of experimental and non-experimental methodologies and techniques.

Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs (minimum grade C or equivalent), to include Science and Additional Science. This must also include Mathematics and English Literature (minimum grade B/5 or equivalent).

How you'll be assessed

Assessment is by written examinations.
