Year 1 mandatory units: Students are required to complete Unit 1: Engineering principles - This is an externally set and marked task. Learners apply mathematical and physical science principles to solve electrical, electronic and mechanical-based engineering problems. Learners are taught solutions to problems, drawing on electrical, electronic, mechanical and mathematical principles. Students are also expected to complete one centre-selected unit: Unit 10 Computer Aided Design in Engineering whereby learners develop two-dimensional (2D) detailed drawings and three-dimensional (3D) models using a computer-aided design (CAD) system. Year 2 mandatory units: Students are required to complete Unit 2: Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team. Learners explore how processes are undertaken by teams to create engineered products or to deliver engineering services safely. In addition, Students are also required to complete Unit 3: Engineering Product Design and Manufacture. Learners will explore engineering product design and manufacturing processes and will complete activities that consider function, sustainability, materials, form and other factors.
