Course summary
"This course develops skills and knowledge in the study of ideas in art, the refinement of ideas through use of tools, materials and visual/tactile language, recording of observations and the realisation of art. Through exploration and investigation of their experiences pupils identify potential for art, develop and realise personal outcomes. During the first year pupils not only develop and extend their technical skills and recorded observations but explore and investigate. They are encouraged to take creative risks to gain new insights and breadth of skills. During the second year pupils develop highly personal work through speciialised investigation, development and realisation of personal outcomes. Life drawing, taught in both years, is regarded as a key means to development of perception and drawing skills. Furthermore, regular gallery visits for development of critical thinking and contextual understanding of the work of artists is essential."
