
Course content: • Paper 1: Biological molecules, Cells, Organisms Exchange Substances With Their Environment and Genetic Information, Variation And Relationships between organisms and including relevant practical skills. • Paper 2: Energy Transfers In And Between Organisms, Organisms Respond To Changes In Their Internal and External Environments and including relevant practical skills. • Paper 3: Any content from all the topics covered in paper 1 and paper 2 and including relevant practical skills. A minimum of 5 GCSE passes (including both English and Mathematics) at Grade 4 or higher. Grade 6 in GCSE Biology or Grade 66 in GCSE Combined Science PLUS Grade 6 in Maths.
There are three externally assessed (exam) papers at A-Level. Each paper is 2 hours long. Both paper 1 and paper 2 comprise of 91 marks each and paper 3 with 78 marks. Paper 1 and paper 2 consist of a mixture of short and long answer questions as well as extended open responses. Paper 3 consists of structured questions including practical techniques, critical analysis of given experimental data and one essay from a choice of two titles.
