Course summary
A level 3D Design is a two-year art-based course that allows students to be creative and expressive with their ideas and designs in both a 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional form. Students are encouraged through experimentation with materials such as wood, wire, paper and clay and learning a wide range of techniques. In Component 1, the personal investigation, you will produce a portfolio of practical work showing their personal response to a theme, starting point or brief. Students can work in an area of personal interest such as architecture, design, or sculpture, with themes such as nature, abstract, structures or experimental. You will also produce a related study, an illustrated study of a guided minimum of 1000 words. In Component 2 Students will respond to an externally set task which will provide a number of starting points. A response will be based on one of these options.
