Course summary

This course will lead you to probe the way that we gain language as children and how we use language every day in order to achieve different goals and purposes. If you like English but have quite a scientific mind, then this is definitely the course for you, it is more about the science of language and how we use it and less about reading lots of books. Deconstructing the meaning of individual words and sentences and looking at how grammar is used in the English Language; language and gender, power and technology; language acquisition and change over time.
