History is a renowned academic A level which provides successful entry into many universities. There are variety of career opportunities including continuing with a history degree, Law, Journalism, International Relations Course Overview: Option 1: Countries in crisis Breadth: Component 1: The British Early study option. This course focuses on the turbulent time of the Tudors 1485-1603. The course chosen will focus on the Religious and Political turmoil's of the period as well as the role of the Monarchy. Depth: Democracy and Nazism 1918-1945: Component 2: This course focuses on the establishment and the Golden Age of the Weimar, with the collapse in Democracy and the Nazi dictatorship and the racial state. There is a focus on the impact of World War Two. Coursework: "Based on a 100 year timeframe of a country in crisis" Option 2: The Great Powers: Breadth: Component One: The impact of industrialization in Britain 1783-1885. This course focuses on the social, political and economic changes during the Industrial period and how Britain became a Great Power as an industrialized nation. Depth: Component Two: The cold war 1945-1991. This course focuses on the origins of the Cold War and the deterioration in relationships. The Development into a global war, Korea, Cuba and Vietnam. The peaceful period of détente and the failure of the détente leading to the Second Cold War. Finally the events that led to the end of the Cold War.
