This course enables you to analyse a wide variety of media products, which may include advertising, film, radio, video games, newspapers and online media. You will develop knowledge and understanding of media language, representation, audience and industrial and cultural contexts. You will gain the skills necessary for constructing or deconstructing media. Key media theories are also studied, with the application and evaluation of these assessed through written examinations. You will be able to engage critically with different pieces of media and apply an analytical framework that helps you better understand the world we live in.
For A-level programmes: 6 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (to include 3 GCSEs at grade 9-4 and 3 GCSEs at grade 9-5). Require grade 9-4 in English Language and Maths.
Assessment is 70% exam and 30% coursework, including a practical production piece and evaluation.
