English Language and Literature
Course summary
As its title suggests, the course develops the skills you have acquired in GCSE English. For example, you will study fiction and drama, while developing your practical language skills through tasks involving comprehension, analysis, summary, adaptation and evaluation. In addition to this, you will undertake the study of the language of speech: both spontaneous and planned. This will include everyday varieties of speech from conversation in different contexts, to broadcast and rhetorical speech. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to develop your own creative writing skills, both fiction and non-fiction, and you will learn how to evaluate and comment on your own writing. A-levels are taught in the classrooms and workshops at Paddington Green Campus.
