If you’re good with numbers and want a career in business then accounting and finance could be for you. Finance skills and expertise are in demand - every business needs to balance the books, submit their taxes, and pay staff and suppliers. Whether you go straight into employment - for example, as a finance officer or accounts clerk - or want to skills and confidence to begin further training, a rewarding career starts here. This Level 3 BTEC Business and Management Accounting Pathway enables students to develop essential knowledge, transferable skills and personal skills in a range of business subject areas that interests them with the aim of enhancing their employability in business, finance and management. Students will be required to attend a mandatory trip, which will add value to their area of study. The trip will be part funded by the college.
At least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths and English. You will also be asked to sit a short written assessment to determine your appropriate level of study.
Over the two years you will study 13 units of which 4 are externally assessed, 9 internally assessed - Exploring Business (Internal) - Developing a Marketing Campaign (External) - Personal and Business Finance (External) - Managing an Event (Internal) - International Business (Internal) - Principles of Management (External) - Business Decision Making (External) - Recruitment and Selection Process (Internal) - Recording Financial Transactions (Internal) - Final Accounts for Public Limited Companies (Internal) - Financial Statements for Specific Businesses (Internal) - Cost and Management Accounting (Internal) - Legal Principles and Professional Ethics in Financial Services (Internal)
