The Level 3 Electrical Installation programme consists of a City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation and a mandatory tutorial session. Learners without a GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and/or Maths will be required to complete a suitable qualification in these areas alongside their installation course. The City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma builds upon the topics covered in the Level 2 Technical Certificate and has been designed to further develop learners' knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable them to progress into apprenticeships, employment and further study within the building sector. Learners will complete units covering: • work activity planning and supervision • further electrical science • system design • inspection & testing • fault diagnosis & rectification • installation requirements The mandatory tutorial session will allow learners to interact with their assigned tutor for progress and development, as well as engage with the Hartlepool College of Further Education tutorial programme.
Prospective learners are required to have a City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Electrical Installation (or equivalent). Alternative entry qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.
Assessment is at course level and consists of one synoptic assignment and one synoptic examination. The assessments are designed to test learners' knowledge and understanding of all the unit content covered. The overall qualification will be graded between a P (pass) and a D* (distinction star), based on the combination of the two assessment outcomes.
