The course is split into 2 areas: Area 1: Breadth study (1 C The Tudors: 1485-1603) This will include the study of significant historical developments over around 100 years and associated interpretations. You will cover Henry VII and Henry VIII in Year 12 and Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I in Year 13. Area 2: Depth Study (20 Democracy and Nazism: 1918-1945) This will include the study in depth of a major historical change or development and associated primary evidence. As part of this, you will cover Weimar Germany 1918-33 (establishment and collapse of the Weimar Republic) in Year 12 and Nazi Germany 1933-45 (Hitler’s consolidation of power, Racial State and Impact of War) in Year 13. You will also complete a Non-examined Assessment (NEA); A personal study based on a topic of your choice. This will take the form of a question in the context of approximately 100 years. It will cover the area of Civil Rights in the USA.
GCSE Grade 6 in English and/or English literature
80% examinations and 20% Non-Exam Assessment (coursework).
