Medical Science is the science of dealing with the maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of diseases. This qualification covers the key topic areas of health, physiology and disease, as well as providing the opportunity to study the areas of physiological measurement and medical research not covered in the biology specification.
GCSE Maths min. Requirement 7 GCSE English Lang min. requirement 7 All Science GCSEs at Grade 7. Students must also study level Biology as part of their program At least one other GCSE at Grade 6 or better
All assessment takes place in year 12: Unit 1 - 1.5 hour externally assessed written examination (50% of the marks). This paper is synoptic and covers each of unit 1-3 with an emphasis on unit 1 (a maximum of 93% of the total marks). Units 2 & 3 - internally assessed timed controlled assessment (50% of the marks - 25% per assessment)
