Course summary

A Level of Geography runs over two years and incorporates many key and current issues in physical and human Geography. You will study six modules spread over two years, as well as combining coursework and fieldwork as part of your studies. Each unit links human and physical geography together and explores key features shaping the world we live in. The course will see you study a wide range of case studies; from the features that shaped Torbay to the deadly Super-typhoon Haiyan that devastated the Philippines. The coursework element will see you create your question to investigate a geographical issue of your choice and delve deeper into an area of Geography that appeals to you, culminating in a 4000-word report about your findings. Fieldwork is also a key element of the course, to show real-life examples of the topics that we cover. We have previously conducted residential visits to Dorset, where students visited the iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. What will I learn? • The water and carbon cycles • Changing places • Hazards • Coastal systems • Global systems and governance • Population and the environment
