Course summary

Studying English Literature allows you to immerse yourself in different worlds and learn about different societies throughout history and across the world. The topics studied on this course are: • Gothic Literature – Dracula, The Picture of Dorian Gray and short extracts • Drama and poetry pre-1900 – The Duchess of Malfi and selected poetry by Christina Rossetti • Literature post-1900 (coursework) – A Streetcar Named Desire, Atonement and selected poetry by Carol Ann Duffy • Shakespeare – The Tempest

Entry requirements

For A-level programmes: 6 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (to include 3 GCSEs at grade 9-4 and 3 GCSEs at grade 9-5). Require grade 9-4 in English Language and Maths. For A-level English Literature: Grade 9-5 English Language.

How you'll be assessed

Assessment is 80% exam and 20% coursework.
