If you’re into movies, music, radio, or television this course will teach you what it takes to plan, produce, and create media products in several different fields. You’ll be working practically on projects that will give you first-hand experience of the work required in the ever-changing media landscape, and writing assignments that will develop your understanding of the different areas of the media industry you’re interested in. You’ll learn how to plan and produce film, radio shows, and print media (magazines and online content) as well as get steeped in how the various media industries are structured and your best strategies for getting your foot in the door of media corporations, as well as how to develop your work on an independent basis. Through a mix of written assignments, practical work, and observational assessment you’ll develop not only the skills and knowledge you’ll need to progress onwards in media education but also the ability to start making your own media productions. By the time you’ve achieved your diploma, a nationally recognized qualification, you should have the confidence to create unique media work that uniquely expresses your personality and interests.
4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D in the old grading structure) or above including one in English or maths Relevant Level 1 qualification with GCSE/Level 1 in English & maths.
