Mathematics
Course summary
In Year 12 you will study three different strands of mathematics: pure mathematics, including algebra, coordinate geometry, trigonometry and calculus; statistics, including probability, discrete distributions and large data sets; and mechanics, including motion and forces. In Year 13 you will build on your year 12 study in each of the three strands. Pure mathematics will include advanced algebra and calculus, exponential and logarithmic functions, further trigonometry and differential equations. In statistics you will look at correlation, further probability, and continuous distributions. Mechanics will include the study of friction, moments and projectiles. This A level would lead directly into subject related university courses and careers, and indirectly into a wide range of higher education courses and career choices.
